“Our confession will either imprison us or set us free. Our confession is the result of our believing, and our believing is the result of our right or wrong thinking.”

The Necessity of Faith

We are familiar with attributes like omniscient, omnipotent & omnipresent, holy, infinite, just and the like. However, there is an attribute of God that we are not so familiar with, but before I reveal this particular attribute, I want to provide the scripture text for it so that you can look them up yourself.

GW - God's Word Translation

God in all His power and glory has an intense, indispensable passion to be trusted and believed. Why? Because He loves us and He apurposely desires a relationship with us. It is His nature to give unto His children. He wants our Joy to be made full. Matt. 7:11 says, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Our Lord Jesus Christ is a king and every King has a protocol in approaching him. God's protocol is that we must approach Him in faith. According to the bible, anything that we ask of God, we can receive IF we ask in faith believing.Heb. 11:6 tells us that, "without faith it is impossible to please God." Gal. 3:22 (GW) says, "But Scripture states that the whole world is controlled by the power of sin. Therefore, a promise based on faith in Jesus Christ could be given to those who believe. And in Romans 14:23 we see. "And he that doubteth is damned if he eat , because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." God only responds to faith. He does not respond to pain, tears, heartache or need. Many believer's are of the mindset that all one has to do is ask and the rest is on God, but the scriptures do not validate that way of thinking. The bible teaches via the stories in scripture that faith is an action. In 2 Kings 5 we see Naaman, king of Syria has leprosy. He was instructed by the man of God, Elisha, to dip in the Jordan river seven times, v.14 Then went he (Naaman) down , and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Naaman obeyed the instructions given by the man of God and he received his miracle of healing. A miracle is the result of God's instruction obeyed. If we do our part, then God will do His part. God never requires you to do the impossible, only what is possible. When you follow an instruction, you document your confidence in the instructor. I am sure that Naaman had internal thoughts regarding the ridiculousness of his instruction to dip in the Jordan seven times to be healed. Despite what he may have thought, he did exactly as instructed. Gal. 5:17 (GW) reads, "What your corrupt nature wants is contrary to what your spiritual nature wants, and what your spiritual nature wants is contrary to what your corrupt nature wants. They are opposed to each other. As a result, you don't always do what you intend to do". You can see that Naaman overrode his natural thinking in order to press on to receive his miracle. The proof of desire is pursuit. You don't have a right to anything you haven't pursued. Naaman was so excited that in v. 15 "he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came , and stood before him: and he said , Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel". Naaman believed. His joy was made full and God was pleasured because He was believed and trusted. In Mark 5, the woman with the issue of blood pressed into the crowd knowing she was unclean to get to Jesus saying, "if I can only tough the hem of His garment I will be healed." She believed, she acted, she said, she pursued and she RECEIVED! God is not a respecter of persons, if we will approach Him in the proper protocol, we will receive too! The Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. Healing is a form of prospering. Prosperity isn't always financial only. Don't delay! The bible is full of provision for His beloved children and the only way we can walk in and experience His promises in our lives is through Faith in His written word. When we make the conscious decision to take God at His word, then He is able to lavish His love on us and our joy is made full. I leave you with this, 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." If you don't pursue God and the written word, you cannot avail yourself to His promises.
